Flowers in the House...Tuesday Tulips

I am not sure what happened to Monday... it came and went in a blur. I thought retirement was suppose to be a mellow, go-with-the-flow time... NOT yesterday! Anyway... no excuse for not getting to the party on time.

No flowers here at the house, but Walmart came through with another lovely little bunch of pink tulips. Two weeks ago, I treated myself to a bundle of orange ones! Brought much delight. Didn't know $5.88 could bring so much joy!
Pretty in Pink - Mama's shell vases have been part of my life forever!

Pink so Soft and Sweet

The vase of orange tulips morphed into its own "ikebana" type arrangement.

Mama and her vases... her favorite color, pink, of course!
Tomorrow is my mother's birthday so the pink tulips are in her memory. I shared a bit about her last year here.

Joining Jane at Small but Charming for Flowers in the House. After these cold, wintery days, we needed a reminder that Spring is coming.

  2. Hi Susan, God bless you as you remember your Mother on her birthday. She was beautiful and this is such a sweet, heartfelt post. I have similar vases. Yours are beautiful with the pink tulips, her photo and the vintage books. I enjoyed last year's post and learning more about her. Mildred

  4. The shell vases are really pretty. Love the tulips, especially the orange ones. I always like the way tulips 'grow' into rather languid arrangements!

  5. Love those vases. Tulips are perfect in them. Jealous of the way your orange tulips opened. Mine never do that. Why?

Remember it's never too late to come to the party. The door is always open.

  6. The 1st anniversary of my Mom's death is in a few days, so I was especially touched to click over to your post about your Mom. My mother also noticed all beauty and pointed it out! Tell Jane I think some varieties of tulips open up more than others. Most of the ones grown for the floral business tend not to open...probably bred to last longer in the vase. The ones that do open start to drop their petals sooner.

    1. Heather, I am so sorry for your loss. The lessons learned are not always recognized until much later. I wondered about the tulips. Some of mine open and some don't. I love to photograph them in all stages. They are really stunning when fully open. Thanks for the visit and the kind comments.

    1. Thanks for your kind words, Britta. The book is The Edwardian Lady, The Story of Edith Holden, author of The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady. I wanted to learn more about the very interesting woman who wrote that beautiful book. Hope you have a lovely weekend!
