July FITH - It's a party!

When Jane scheduled Flowers in the House for today, I hoped for an outdoor party. Unfortunately, the party came indoors since we have had our daily dose of rain... at least 2 really strong showers today complete with thunder rumbling all around. Our Georgia rainfall deficit has been reduced and is now running in the plus column... for this we are thankful. However, we are beginning to mold and mildew so a bit of prolonged sunshine would be most appreciated. So lemonade and cookies were served inside rather than under the umbrella on the patio.

Afternoon rain shower - 30 or so consecutive days of rain!

Washing dishes is easier when there are flowers in the window!

Need to use the watering can for something!
Cookies, lemonade, and all the left over flowers!
Thanks for your visit! Don't forget to pop in at Jane's and visit all the party goers. Hope you have a pleasant week whether it's rain or shine, hot or cool wherever you are!

  1. Dear Susan,
as I thought: you made the most of it, sun or rain. Of course for an outdoor party sun would have been better, but "It is as it is", as the standard sentence of a Hamburgian comic lady goes - and right she is.
Flowers lighten up every room and every task, I am with you! Have a pleasant week too!

    1. Britta... We have much the same expression... "It is what it is!" Am sure yours is closer to correct grammar! We continue to be amazed at the rainfall this summer. We still have not missed a day and the sky is threatening now. We will be happy for the full lakes, rivers, and reservoirs when the rains are scarce. Lovely new profile photo of you!

  2. Cookies, lemonade and leftover flowers? Count me in! Glad you're getting some much needed rain, but 30 days in a row sounds like a bit much! I live in Arizona and we enjoyed quite a bit of rain last weekend. Thanks for having us over for the FITH party! :)

  3. Sounds like you have had enough of the rain, but cookies and lemonade sound good any time.

    1. Yes, while we know we need to build up the ground water, it isn't easy to plan anything outdoors! Thanks for your visit. Planning to see you at July's Scavenger Hunt since I missed June's!

  4. Such pretty flowers. I've been wanting zinnias--was hoping to get some at the farmers market last weekend--usually there are big bunches, but was disappointed.
Lemonade and cookies=two of my favorite things!

    1. Thanks, Jen. Was slim picking in and around my yard! Threw in a few "flowering weeds" and the spikes left after the agapanthus bloomed! I always plant a large, old galvanized tub with zinnias. This year they have done moderately well... Hope they last until fall... The butterflies love them!

  6. Every year I vow to plant zinnias, and every year I forget. I'll have to buy a nice big bunch at the Farmers' Market to get my fix of colour! We're having a typical dry summer out here - no rain since the end of June - so the sound of raindrops some morning would be welcome.

    1. My zinnias were compliments of a friend who saves her seeds from year to year. She shared a nice bag of seed last fall. The biggest trick was remembering where I put them! They are such a happy, colorful, easy flower! Hoping you get a nice rain shower. We have had two consecutive days with sunshine...we are beside ourselves! Thanks for dropping by.

  7. Susan,
I like the arrangement in the watering can the best. What a great idea to use a watering can as a vessel. I also like the way you mixed various shapes and colors in that arrangement. NICE!!!!!
